Soil Conservation Technician

Qualifications:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
GS - 05 Specialized
Experience:
One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS - 04 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
1) assisting staff with compiling resource information preparing maps, and interpreting soil survey data for us in conservation planning; 2) assisting with recording field notes and preparing tentative designs based on standard designs for review and approval; and 3) assisting with scheduling follow up appointments to check on the progress of conservation practices under construction. (Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience) OR Education:
Have completed 4- year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable (You must submit transcripts) OR Combination:
You must have a percentage of the education and experience which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position. When combining education with experience, first determine total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required; then determine experience as a percentage of the experience required; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (You must submit transcripts) OR GS - 06 Specialized
Experience:
One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS - 05 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
1) assisting staff with compiling resource information, preparing maps, and interpreting soil survey data for us in conservation planning; 2) reviewing conservation plans with landowners, and schedules on-site assistance; 3) laying out construction ground controls for installation preparation and use of survey equipment; and 4) assisting with preliminary engineering surveys gathering design data for structures requiring engineering application. (Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience) OR Education:
Have completed at least one full year of graduate level education in a field study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable (You must submit transcripts) OR Combination:

Experience:
One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS - 06 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
1) gathering and compiling planning data on rural and/or urban sites, including physical features such as soil limitations, erosion, surface drainage, and sedimentation; 2) assisting with resource planning utilizing survey tools and planning software; 3) gathering design data for structures requiring engineering application; and 4) providing assistance with the implementation, checkout and certificate of conservation practices. Have completed at least two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
